New Years' Mani - Confetti!

Happy New Year!!! I hope everyone is having a fantastic last day of 2011! As for me, I worked this morning and since I got home from work I've been singing along to musicals while swatching a few colors and doing my nails :) Its been a great last 2011 afternoon! Here's what I decided on for my New Year's mani!

This is a combination of 3 polishes. Layering Order is as follows:
Julep Nail Therapy
China Glaze Icicle
OPI Rainbow Connection
Color Club Wish Upon A Rock Star
Out the Door
Seche Vite

I wanted something fun, festive and of course colorful as my last mani of the year! What are your last manis for 2011? Let me know what you're doing below!!

Nightmare Before Christmas Nail Polish

Howdy! I went after Christmas shopping and I picked up mostly clothes, but I did pick up a few nail polish items. Today's post is one of the things I picked up.

I bought this at Claire's for 5 dollars. All Nightmare stuff was 1/2 off and just because it was Nightmare, I had to get it. How cute are the bottles? Very! I'm a huge Nightmare Before Christmas nerd. HUGE. Its one of my all time favorite movies!

Well, the bottles are the only saving grace to these polishes. The colors don't have names and they're pretty, especially the purple and grey, but the formula is so terrible and the bottles are completely round. They don't stand on their own... how in the world was I supposed to paint my nails with a bottle that didn't stand??

The formula was pretty bad. They're thick and goopey and a pain to get off (do you see the goopey chunk on my pointer finger in the purple? yeah...) I think maybe thinner might help the formula on these. but I don't think I will ever be wearing these again.  I will just be keeping them for the cute bottles... I mean the bottle is Jack's head! Epic! :) But yeah, if you see these are you're a NBC fan, get it for the bottle... but don't plan on actually using them! haha

January Julep Maven "It Girl" Box

Good evening! Today I recieved my second Julep maven box!! Check out pictures and the video below to see what I got!

Cute packaging!

Leah, Hayden, Megan, Nail Therapy
This is the January "It Girl" box. The colors (and the description on the card) are:

Megan: A playful and sultry Mediterranean aquamarine shimmer
Hayden: Bold and bright neon peach creme
Leah: A vivid and refreshing grass green with a hint of shimmer.

I also decided to upgrade this box with the "complimentary" upgrade and I got the nail therapy after hearing great things about it. I also got a nail polish remover pad which claims to remove color from all 10 fingers with just the one pad, excited to try it out! I'm loving all these colors. I don't have anything exactly like any of these, especially Hayden. I'm hoping Hayden looks good on my skin tone... peaches look weird on me but *crosses fingers*.

I also uploaded a video of me opening this box, if you're like me and like watching these kinds of things!:

I will have swatches of these colors very soon! Can't wait to play with these. I'm loving my box this month!!!

Thanks for reading, until next time!

Julep - Kim

Hello! Sorry for the late post, but today I have the last color I recieved in my first Julep Maven box :)

Kim. 2 coats. Its described as a dark gunmetal grey, but when its in the sun it looks way more silver. I really love this color, my only issue is its kind of brush-strokey. I didn't apply topcoat, and I don't know if that would have made a difference. I really need to try it out next time. Either way, I really like this color. I'm so glad I became a Maven, I'm so impressed by their polish so far!

Thanks for reading, until next time!

Julep - Chloe

Today's color is my favorite from my first Julep Maven box!

Sunlight

Sunlight
Chloe. 3 coats. Black base with magenta glitter. This color is so pretty! It looks a little dull because I didn't put topcoat on. I wanted to show what this color was like without topcoat. This color reminds me a lot of Revlon Facets of Fuchsia except without the hex glitter, so I'm definitely in love with this color! I really love this for when I want subtle sparkle! This was the color I immediately was drawn to when I opened my Maven box even though Helena was the loud, bright one. I'm so excited to have this color! The formula was pretty good, it was just a tad bit thick, but nothing too major. I might try layering this over black next time so I can conserve polish.

Julep - Helena

Today I bring you one of the colors from my first Maven box!

Sunlight
Helena. This is only one coat of this polish (hence the VNL). I wanted to show this as just a one coater because this  was my first experience with Julep polish and its awesome. I can't believe how crazy saturated it is. This color went on so smooth and like all neon-ish colors this dried kind of matte so I used the Julep Fast Dry Topcoat (that also came in my box) on top and it brought back the shine! The whole thing dried so fast! I'm really impressed with Julep so far! I'm so excited I became a Maven.

If any of you are interested in becoming a Maven, check it out here (Yes, I get referral points, but if I get any points I'm planning to do a giveaway!)

Finger Paints Flakie Bomb!!

Good morning! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and Santa brought you all what you wanted, and if not... I hope you get out to shop today! :) As for me, I got money, a gift card, a nail polish, and a Snuggie :) It was a good, lazy Christmas! :)

So let me say right off the bat I stole this idea from The Polishaholic. I saw this on her blog and I had to try it and since it looks so incredible, I had to share, so thanks Jen for the idea! I'm in love with my nails.

Sunlight

Shade
Flakie Bomb!!! This is a combination of all 5 flakies that make up the Finger Paints Special Effects Flakies Collection. Colors are Asylum, Flecked, Motley, Twisted, and Flashy. I completely love this mani!!! I don't really know what else to say about it other than I love it so much!!! So since this mani has kind of left me at a loss for words, I'll just let he pictures speak for themselves!

My First Julep Maven Box!!

I am so behind because of the holidays, but I"m finally catching up. So yesterday I worked from 7:45-3:45 yesterday and when I got home, my first Julep box was waiting for me. It was an awesome early Christmas present :)

This is the penny box that I got from The Trace Face Philes link. I really wanted to try Julep, but I was always not willing to try it for the price so the one cent deal is awesome! I will be gladly paying for my box next month. The preview email is amazing!!!

Check out what I got:

I'm loving the cute red box :)

Once you open it, There's my style profile card (I'm an "It Girl") detailing the polishes I got.
The polishes came bubble wrapped inside a cute little snowflake paper bag :)

And finally, here's the polishes. I got:
Kim: Gunmetal grey,
Helena: BRIGHT Magenta (and I love the name... Helena Bohnam Carter, anyone?)
Chloe: Charcoal base with magenta glitter... holy crap its so pretty!!

I also got the Julep Fast Dry Topcoat, A silver glitter pot, and samples of Hand Brightener and Hand lotion.

I haven't tried these out yet, but I'm so excited to! I'll make sure to make a post about the Julep colors when I do try them! :) I'm so excited I became a Julep Maven. I love it. Very, Very much!!!

12 Days of Christmas: Day 12 - Glittering Christmas!

Good Morning! Merry Christmas to those celebrating today and Happy Hannukah to those celebrating that holiday! I'm just about to unwrap presents and do a family breakfast. After that, I'll get things organized to pick my Secret Santa giveaway winners!!

Also, I will try to post the first video in my collection series in the next few days. Its going to start off with China Glaze polishes :) Hope you guys look out for that!

Today's post is kind of a fail in the sense that I'm not sure if I like how it turned out, but I'm posting it anyways!

Base is Milani 3D Holographic in 3D. (1 coat) with 2 coats of China Glaze Twinkle Lights on top. I like it in the sense that its glittery and awesome, but I just don't know something feels off about it. I'm still keeping it as my Christmas Day mani anyways haha.

I hope you guys are enjoying your holiday! Have a fantastic day!!!

Thanks for reading, until next time!

12 Days of Christmas: Day 11 - Holiday Flakies!

Today's Christmas post includes flakies! :). Please excuse the messy cuticles, I did my nails and shortly after took a shower so I didn't want to go through cleaning my cuticles since it would wash off in the shower anyways.

China Glaze Velvet Bow (2 coats) with Finger Paints Flecked on top. As soon as I got Flecked, I knew I had to try to layer it over red for Christmas :) I love the FP Flakies! They're fantastic!!!!

Don't forget to check out my new YouTube Channel for a collection/storage overview video!

12 Days of Christmas: Day 10 - Fireside Glow

So my second post of the day (as promised) is the other Ulta exclusive China Glaze glitter!

Sunlight

Shade

Bottle <3
Fireside Glow. China Glaze Ulta exclusive. Copper glitter with holo glitter. Formula-wise this is the same as      ULTAmate Holiday 2 coater, but gritty and topcoat hungry. This one isn't as packed with the holo as Ultamate Holiday is, but its sill gorgeous! I'm really liking this to wear during the summer... let's see if I still feel that way when summer actually hits haha! What do you think of these Ulta exclusive glitters? Leave me a comment below if you have these!
