My First Spa Ritual Polishes!

Hey Guys!!

Today I have swatches of my first 3 Spa Ritual polishes. I got these at Marshalls for $3.99 each and since I liked all the colors and have been meaning to try out this brand, I decided to go for it! Here we go:

Dreams Becoming Reality. 2 Coats. Deep teal. I love this kind of color. This is one of my favorite color families... the dark turquoise/teal color. This was among one of the nicest I've worked with formula wise. 2 coats for full opacity. Super easy to work with!

Shoot for the Stars. 2 coats. Medium red-toned purple. Super pretty color. I actually don't think I have anything this shade in my collection. Beautiful formula just like Dreams Becoming Reality.

Silver. 2 coats. Not the most exciting name ever, but it does the job of describing it. Great formula for a straight up silver. Not anything super unique or exciting about this color... but I love silvers!

Overall, I'm super happy with my first Spa Ritual experience. If you're a fan of this brand of have been meaning to try it out.. check your local Marshalls or TJ Maxx first... they might have a few of these you can try out for cheap!

NOTD: Barry M Lilac Foil + Glitter

Hey guys!!

I just have a quick NOTD today, which I've actually been wearing for a couple of days, so please excuse the tipwear on the pictures below!

my NOTD is Barry M Lilac Foil with an accent nail of Jade Twinkling Purple. Jade is a brand I get at my nail supply store for $1. I usually go for their glitters since they're really gorgeous.

I thought this look would be really pretty for spring... and as soon as I put it on, the next day is started to rain. So much for spring weather we were having! Enough of that...on to the pictures! (Also excuse the cut on my cuticle. My skin is so dry because of the flip-floping weather. Hot then cold... make up your mind, so-cal!

That's it for today! Tomorrow I will have swatches of the Lorac Pro Palette on the blog :)

As always, thanks for reading!

Update on Liquid Sand + NOTW

So, I changed my nail polish last night. I managed to survive a few days and a Disneyland trip with the Liquid Sand on. It drove me nuts, but I found that as the days went by, much like matte nail polish, it started to kind of turn in to a satin-y finish and almost felt smoother... or I got used to it. Either way, the grittiness got better but I still hate these polishes. I'm not sure if I will actually ever wear this again, but I probably will with lots of topcoat over it.... we'll see how it goes!

I had some time to kill last night and decided to do a Valentine's Day mani and then I realized that my best friend still has my stamping plates... and since I'm terrible at free-hand nail art, I decided I wouldn't try to draw anything on my nails freehand. I just got a bunch of Valentine's colors and mixed them together and  got somewhat of decent Valentine's mani. Its not the greatest, but with the little time I had, it works for me! Here's what I came up with:

Thumb -  OPI If you Moust, You Moust with Sally Hansen HD Byte over it
Index - OPI Excuse Moi
Middle - Color Club Hot Like Lava with Essie A Cut Above
Ring - Seche Red with China Glaze Ring in the Red
Pinky - OPI If you Moust, You Moust with Color Club Tru Passion over it

NOTD: Liquid Sand

Hey everyone!

I have a little bit before I head out to rehearsal for my next show, so I figured I would do my nails. A couple of days ago, I picked up a couple of the Liquid Sand OPI colors from the Mariah Carey collection. So today's NOTD is one of those colors.

Natural Light, Overcast

 Artificial Light

OPI Stay the Night - 1 coat over Wet n' Wild Black Creme
Purple glitter in gritty black base.

First, if you're anything like me and you have to have a smooth finish on your nails, this will drive you NUTS. I'm the type that uses Gelous and Seche Vite copiously over any kind of glitter. As a nervous habit, I run my fingers over my nails and the smoothness is comforting (I'm weird, I know!)

I'm going to try to tough it out for a day or two to see what I think, but so far, its driving me insane that they're not smooth.

If you don't know about these liquid sand colors, they dry to a matte, gritty finish that literally feels and looks like colored sand.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about these, but I don't like the texture so far. As a color, its really pretty and reminds me a lot of Julep Chloe as far as the type of color... purple glitter in the black. As a color, I love it, but I just can't get over the gritty. This is one nail fad that I'm pretty much hating!

Thanks for reading and putting up with my little rant.

GOSH Gasoline

Today's post is yet another polish from my mega swap with Raych and I'm in love with this one too! (Once again, please ignore the band-aid on my pinky... I swatched this when I had cut it)

Natural Light - Sunlight

Natural Light - Shade

Artificial Light
GOSH Gasoline. 3 coats. Purple base with blue and pink micro glitter. OMG. This color is heaven. Its almost like a glass flecks kind of color and a fantastic glitter all rolled in to one. This is one Raych picked out on her own for me and holy crap I'm so glad she did! I would have never picked something like this for myself, but it is most definitely a welcome addition to my hoard *ahem* collection. The formula was kind of sheer but for a color like this, I really don't mind! Also, this is random but I'm kind of in love with the Gosh and Model's Own bottles haha I love round bottles! Thank you Raych!

I'm BACK! + March Julep Maven swatches!

Hey everyone!! My hiatus is officially over. I have finally made some time for myself  to start swatching and such and so I should be able to post more regularly, at least for the next couple of weeks. After that, I start doing tech for a musical they're doing at my school so I don't know how much time I'll have when that starts, but until then... I'm back!

Also, in other exciting news... I reached 200 followers while I was away!! I really need to start planning a giveaway for that soon. I promise I will!!!

...aaaaand for those of you that might not know, I started a personal/makeup/randoms/weight loss/Disneyland/etc blog that I try to post in regularly. I've done really well with my weight loss, I have lost 15 pounds since I started at the end of January and I'm loving it. I feel fantastic! Check out my Personal Blog for my own personal non-polish ramblings! haha

Okay, so! On to today's post. I have swatched from the March Julep Maven It Girl box. I didn't do a box opening video because at the time I got my box, I didn't have time and I didn't take pictures of the box itself because it was just their standard packing... black box, crumply paper inside, bubble wrap and ribbon... nothing too special. I gotta say when I got the e-mail about this box, I got really excited because it said something about a holographic effect....... yeah its not so much holographic as a teal shimmer... but I'll get in to that later. So these are the colors I got, described by Julep:

Charlotte: Demure lavender creme. Sophisticated with a twist.
Jodie: Deep rose with a golden shimmer.
Melissa: Sheer opalescent shimmer adds a soft glow when used alone and a high-fashion holographic effect when used over another color.

First up, Charlotte. It is exactly as described by Julep. A lavender creme. Fortunately I love lavender cremes because of how they look on my skin tone so I'm really happy with this color, but its not anything spectacular or new.

Artificial Light

Natural Light - Direct Sunlight

Natural Light - Shade

Next is Jodie. This is really pretty. I actually wouldn't have picked it for myself and that's why I love the Julep Maven program. Anywho its really pretty and my camera is NOT accurate on this. Its a little more pink than its picked up. Also, she had a little accident. Its not broken, it just leaked a little on the way.

:(

Artificial Light

Natural Light - Direct Sunlight

Natural Light - Shade
And finally, the polish that was supposed to be "holographic". Melissa. Its a shimmery teal that gives everything its swatched over a shimmery teal duochromey effect. It is really gorgeous and I pretty much love it but I am annoyed cause its not holographic :/. I swatched this over Charlotte.

All of the above: Natural Light - Direct Sunlight

Artificial Light

NOTD: Do You Lilac It and Twinkling Purple

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday!!! Today's post is my current NOTD.

Do You Lilac It? from OPI with Jade Twinkling Purple on the accent nail. I love DYLI because of how it looks on my skin tone. Its one of my first ever OPIs and I used so much of it already, I'm down to a little less than half the bottle. Twinkling Purple by the brand Jade I picked up at my nail supply place for $1 and I love it!

Thanks for reading, until next time!

Nightmare Before Christmas Nail Polish

Howdy! I went after Christmas shopping and I picked up mostly clothes, but I did pick up a few nail polish items. Today's post is one of the things I picked up.

I bought this at Claire's for 5 dollars. All Nightmare stuff was 1/2 off and just because it was Nightmare, I had to get it. How cute are the bottles? Very! I'm a huge Nightmare Before Christmas nerd. HUGE. Its one of my all time favorite movies!

Well, the bottles are the only saving grace to these polishes. The colors don't have names and they're pretty, especially the purple and grey, but the formula is so terrible and the bottles are completely round. They don't stand on their own... how in the world was I supposed to paint my nails with a bottle that didn't stand??

The formula was pretty bad. They're thick and goopey and a pain to get off (do you see the goopey chunk on my pointer finger in the purple? yeah...) I think maybe thinner might help the formula on these. but I don't think I will ever be wearing these again.  I will just be keeping them for the cute bottles... I mean the bottle is Jack's head! Epic! :) But yeah, if you see these are you're a NBC fan, get it for the bottle... but don't plan on actually using them! haha

Orly Oui

As promised, Today is another color from the Holiday Soiree Collection by Orly for the 2011 winter/holiday season.

Orly Oui. Purple base loaded with gold glitter. This is just like yesterday's post of Ingenue except that its purple. Its also a dupe for an OPI color: Its My Year from Miss Universe collection but again I don't see the need to go buy that one since I already own this one. Like I said yesterday, I love gold glitter loaded polishes so this one is right up my alley. Its beautiful and its still really great for fall. I will definitely be wearing this and Ingenue often this fall/winter!
