25 Days of Broadway: Day 1 - Wicked

So I decided that I wanted to try my hand a bettering my nail art and I came up with this "challenge" for myself since I love musicals so much. I decided to take 25 shows that I love and try to do nail art looks for them... some may be better than others but I'm mostly just doing this for fun. Also, for each show I will be putting my favorite song/performance from that show after the nail post :)

The first show I decided to do was Wicked. The musical about Oz and what happened before Dorothy. Each nail depicts something/someone from the show.

Index: Shiz University Uniforms
OPI Ski Teal We Drop and white striper

Middle: Galinda
OPI Pink Friday, Sinful Colors 24/7, China Glaze Fairy Dust

Ring: Elphaba
Maybelline Go Go Green with Wet n' Wild Black Creme

Pinky: Nessarose
China Glaze Ring in the Red

(Please ignore the green girl's horrendous breathing. I can't stand Idina Menzel's breathing.)

Year Challenge: Week 5 - Newspaper Mani

Good morning!

Today's post is this week's challenge: Newspaper mani.

I really love this a lot, I just wish I would have found newspaper with smaller print. I used Skull and Glossbones by OPI for the base coat. It was really easy and fast to do, just make sure the bast color is completely dry.. I made that mistake the first time around -_-'

As always, please don't forget to check out the lovely ladies also doing this challenge:

I'm gonna be starting a couple new challenges that I'm coming up with myself so keep checking back for those! :)

Broadway Spam Post! *Vid Heavy*

Hello! Today's post I'm really excited about. Its a Broadway spam day! I'm posting the other colors I own from the OPI Broadway collection with a HUGE shout out to Katherine from Haul of Fame for taking the time to track these down for me! THANK YOU!!! After I do the swatches and post their corresponding musicals I'm gonna post video of my favorite musicals of the moment for your guys' enjoyment!

Movin' Out. Pink/Purple/Green multichrome with micro glitter. I really love this though it was really hard for me to capture the duochrome but I LOVE this!! So much!! Way more than I thought I would like this. My only problem with this is its so sheer. This is 4 coats and I can still see my nail line... I'm gonna have to wear this over something next time... either way I still love it and the musical its named after:

"River of Dreams/Keeping the Faith/Only the Good Die Young" from Movin' Out

Man of La Mancha. 3 coat. Orange/copper/yellow multichrome. The formula on this bad boy was way better than Movin' Out, but I don't like the colors as much

"The Impossible Dream" from Man of La Mancha

For this I decided to do 2 of the lighter colors over black.
Index and Middle have 3 coats of Thorougly Modern Millie
Ring and Pinky have 3 coats of Mamma Mia.
I really like these but they are a lot like RENT by OPI, their base colors are different but the duochrome is really close. I really like these and I need to find different ways to wear these! I can't wait!! :)

Gimme Gimme from Thoroughly Modern Millie with the uh-mazing Sutton Foster!

Money, Money, Money from the movie version of Mamma Mia because I love Meryl Streep so much!

and now its time to go Broadway crazy... feel free to x out if you're not a showtunes kind of person! These are mostly my current favorites :) My taste in musicals changes a lot... I mostly get really obsessed with what's currently on broadway and such.

Anything Goes from Anything Goes 2011 Revival starring Sutton Foster

Brotherhood of Man from How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying starring Daniel Radcliffe

Mamma Who Bore Me/Bitch of Living/Totally Fucked from Spring Awakening starring Lea Michele (before she started to suck on Glee)

96,000 from In the Heights

21 Guns from American Idiot (yes Green Day made a musical!)

Memphis Lives in Me from Memphis

Pulled from The Addams Family

I think that's about it for now... I have many, many more favorites but you know... I can't put them all here haha... if you like this kind of stuff feel free to email me and ask me for recommendations! :)

Year Challenge: Week 4 - Plaid Mani

Wow I totally forgot to post this! Oops!!!

Here's my weekly challenge post for this week... the plaid mani! I took the easy road out this week because I really wanted to make this stamp work... it was a pain in the butt!

This is from my Salon Express stamping kit and I had tried to get this to work before but I never could so since this week is the plaid manicure, I was determined to make this image work... and I kind of did... its not the greatest but I got it to at least show up! Yay!!

2 China Glaze Magnetix!

Good morning! Today I have 2 colors from the new China Glaze Magnetix collection to show you guys :) I only picked up these two for now cause funds are tight at the moment. I'm planning on getting 2 more.

Attraction. 1 coat. Gunmetal grey with silver glitter. I really love this. When I was done swatching these, I put this color right back on with the diagonal lines as the design. I really like the glitter in this :) Makes me happy!

Cling On. 1 coat. Metallic army green. I'm not a fan of how this came out. I need to play with this a little more to find a trick or something... I mean it looks pretty cool, but I don't like that it looks like my nail is discolored around the magnetic design.

As far as the magnet, I'm not that impressed by it. The chevrons didn't work so well... the diagonal stripes is the magnet that worked the best and the star was okay.

A Few Electropop Colors

Good morning! Sorry I disappeared for the last few days... its been a weird couple of days but I refuse to let anything get me down! :) I'm planning on going to pick up some China Glaze Magnetic polishes today! My nail place got them in. Yay!

Today's post is a few colors I picked up from the China Glaze Electropop Collection! Check it out! I apologize for the hideous cuticles... its been a weird summer like winter in so-cal and its hell on my hands.

Electric Beat is a dusty cornflower blue creme. Really pretty!

Kinetic Candy is a baby blue creme... with a little dustiness to it. Its really cute though and its not an in your face baby blue.

Aquadelic is a turquoise creme. Really love this... I think this is my favorite color of the ones I picked up.

Gaga for Green is a GORGEOUS green creme. I love greens and this one is a very welcome addition to my collection.

Gothic Lolita is a purple with an awesome shimmer

Formula on these was pretty decent. I felt like a couple of them were a little thicker than I would have liked, but thinner will fix that so no biggie! Overall I love the colors and I'm loving these! :)

China Glaze Sea Spray

Good morning!

Today's post is yet another polish I picked up from the Anchors Away collection when it was on sale at Ulta.

Sea Spray. This is a blue creme with silver shimmer running throughout. This is really pretty :) I was on the fence about this because light blues don't usually look good on me, but this has enough gray in it that it works with my skin tone so yay!

Year Challenge: Week 3 - Color Block Mani

Hey guys! Today's post is week 3 of the weekly challenge :) Color Block is this week's theme.

So when I was deciding what to do for this, I wasn't sure what colors I wanted to do or anything like that and then I got my inspiration. I was listening to the Backstreet Boys, which is and will always be my biggest obsession and I decided on black and blue (for their album Black & Blue that came out in 2000) so yay for being a teeny bopper nerd <3

I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Cobolt Blue and Wet n' Wild Black Creme and the dots are Insta-Dri Silver Sweep.

China Glaze Below Deck + Accent :)

Good morning! Today's post is another color from China Glaze Anchors Away but with a little something extra :)

Below Deck is a taupey color a lot like Sephora by OPI Metro Chic. I'm really loving these kind of dirty/taupe colors on me right now. To spice it up a little I added Mad as a Hatter on the accent nail and I really like this combination! :)

China Glaze Lighthouse

Good morning! Happy weekend!!! Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far :) Today I bring you another color from the Anchors Away collection that I finally picked up some colors from. Yay for Ulta sales!

Lighthouse. Index and middle: 2 coats alone, ring and pinky: 2 coats over 1 coat white. I was actually surprised how well this covered. I thought to try it on white because I was skeptical about how opaque it could be and I was pleasantly surprised. I actually like this a lot better alone than over white. Its rare that you get a yellow that works well! :) I'm loving this and  I can't wait for it to be summer so I can wear this more!!

China Glaze Starboard

Hey guys! Sorry I'm really late putting up a blog post today.... school is kicking my butt! I was live on the radio today and I spent all day prepping for it...

Anyways on to the post!

China Glaze Starboard. Green creme. Everyone knows by now that I LOVE green so there should be no surprise that I love this color. It went on very smoothly. This is 2 coats for this picture. Dry time is fantastic as with all CHG polishes :) Overall, fantastic! I kind of missed out on the Anchors Away collection becuase I didn't have much money when it came out but the colors just went on sale at Ulta so I picked up a few over the holidays. I'll have a few more coming up in the next few days to share with you guys! :)

Finger Paints Twisted + Matte

Hey there!

Today's post is a Finger Paints flakie that I can't get over how amazing it is... and I mattifyed it as an experiment and if its possible, I love it MORE!

Twisted by Finger Paints. 2 coats over 1 coat WNW Black Creme. First 2 pictures are normal and bottom 2 are matte (I used 1 coat of Hard Candy Mattely in Love). I didn't think I could possibly love Twisted any more until I made it matte. Holy cow it looks awesome! I can't stop staring at my nails. I'm in love.

Hey Guys! Today's post is week 2 of the year challenge I'm doing. Week 2 is a French Tip Manicure

I was watching a Disney movie when I decided on this. I wanted to do a Minnie Mouse french tip :) Please excuse the messy cuticles, I didn't have time for clean up. Really loving this challenge so far!

Color Club - Revvvolution

This is a color I've wanted for a while and my nail supply place just got new Color Club racks and a whole new stock upgrade... so its in stock!

Color Club Revvvolution. Charcoal base with grainy holo running throughout. This is 1 1/2 coats. I say 1 1/2 cause some of my nails only have one coat and others have a little bit of a evening out coat. So yeah, I pretty much love this color, just like I was hoping I would!!! I'm so glad I finally found it and I didn't have to pay for shipping :) yay!!! I guess it was my lucky day!
