Sally Hansen Satin Glam Swatches + Review

Hiya!

Today on the blog I have swatches of 3 of the Satin Glam polishes from Sally Hansen.  These are really cool.  They're glittery polishes that dry to a satin finish (somewhere between matte and glossy). On to the pictures and review!

Teal Tulle. 2 Coats, Glittery teal.  This is my favorite of the ones I own. Its beautiful and even though it has a satin finish, it catches the sun beautifully! Definitely will be wearing this a lot this spring/summer I think.  I used this a while ago in a "Sully" from Monsters Inc/Monsters University mani with Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Grape Shifter on top and it was my favorite mani I did in a long time.  I forgot to take pictures of it (d'oh!) but next time I do it I will be sure to blog.

Silk Onyx.  2 Coats, black base shimmery silver throughout.  This is a really cool color, when it dries it kind of reminds me of a pencil, if that makes any sense! The color is beautiful and the finish is beautiful as well, the silver shimmer throughout catches the sun really nicely even if it is a satin finish.

Go Gold.  2 Coats, shimmery light gold.  This is really beautiful too, its much more glittery and in your face on the nails than the other 2 are, I feel like.  Its still a gorgeous color but I feel like I'm wearing a ground up coin on my nails or something, I don't know.  Something about this color I'm just not feeling.  I feel like the other 2 colors I own has shimmer that's a little more subtle, but not this guy.  Even with the satin finish, the brightness is definitely visible.

Overall, the formula on these guys is really good.  Really smooth and easy to put on and wear.  They also look great with a matte topcoat to make them completely matte, and they also look great with a glossy topcoat to make it a more traditional polish.  Wear time is pretty decent on these alone, but if a matte topcoat is put over it it lasts longer and the matte topcoats kind of satin out after a day or two of use.   I think that's about it!

NOTD: Liquid Sand

Hey everyone!

I have a little bit before I head out to rehearsal for my next show, so I figured I would do my nails. A couple of days ago, I picked up a couple of the Liquid Sand OPI colors from the Mariah Carey collection. So today's NOTD is one of those colors.

Natural Light, Overcast

 Artificial Light

OPI Stay the Night - 1 coat over Wet n' Wild Black Creme
Purple glitter in gritty black base.

First, if you're anything like me and you have to have a smooth finish on your nails, this will drive you NUTS. I'm the type that uses Gelous and Seche Vite copiously over any kind of glitter. As a nervous habit, I run my fingers over my nails and the smoothness is comforting (I'm weird, I know!)

I'm going to try to tough it out for a day or two to see what I think, but so far, its driving me insane that they're not smooth.

If you don't know about these liquid sand colors, they dry to a matte, gritty finish that literally feels and looks like colored sand.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about these, but I don't like the texture so far. As a color, its really pretty and reminds me a lot of Julep Chloe as far as the type of color... purple glitter in the black. As a color, I love it, but I just can't get over the gritty. This is one nail fad that I'm pretty much hating!

Thanks for reading and putting up with my little rant.

Zoya Opal. Green Flakie!!! 2 coats over black. I love flakies and I love green. This has a blue duochrome to it too so it is perfect. I have zero problems with this. Formula is great, dry time is great... this thing is just overall great! I really can't say much more about it other than you should get it if you haven't already!

China Glaze - Smoke and Ashes

Today's post is another color I picked up from the Hunger Games Collection from China Glaze.

Artificial Light

Natural Light

Natural Light
Smoke and Ashes. 2 coats. This is a gorgeous black with tiny green glitter. I really love this is the sunlight. It looks black in the shade, but in the sunlight it comes alive with the green. Formula is great, and dries fast. I really love these kinds of colors that have a subtle hint of color. Definitely a fave!

Butter London - The Dark Knight

Today's post is a polish that I've wanted for so long and I finally got it for my birthday from Miss Princess Mari. THANK YOU MARI!! I'm in love. On to the swatches.

Butter London The Dark Knight. Multi-glitter in a black base. This is 3 coats. I love this color despite its 3 coats. First coat was sheer, second coat was a little streaky so I needed the third to even it out. This was taken in artificial light since I did my nails at night. I still have this color on since I haven't had time to change it. Its work exceptionally well considering I type a lot for one of my jobs and I tinker with heavy things and electronics for my other job, not to mention homework and everything else I do daily. I've had this color on since Sunday and it is now Thursday which is a really long time for me to have nail polish on. I only have some minor tip wear... I'm impressed!

I guess that's all I have to say about this... next is layering order.

Layering Order:
Julep Nail Therapy
Seche Clear
The Dark Knight
Gelous
Seche Vite

Model's Own Emerald Black is probably my favorite of the Beetlejuice colors because it combines two of my favorite colors... black and green! :) As with all the other Model's Own so far, the formula is fantastic! :) I'm totally in love with this brand so far. yay!!! This is 2 coats.
